The high-density pastel core holds well in layered applications, making it well suited for this technique.

Is the 40-set suitable for portrait work? Yes. The expanded range includes a thorough selection of skin tones, warm flesh values, and transitional neutrals that support realistic portrait and figurative rendering.

Does the box adequately protect the fragile pastel cores? Yes. The interior cushioning keeps each pencil stable and prevents the cores from shattering due to impact or movement — a particular concern with the larger, softer 4.7mm pastel cores.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0873/4405/4621/files/caran-dache-pastel-coloured-pencils-40-set_7630002324687_00.jpg?v=1718415297
