The photos are ordered to follow that cycle from start to finish and back to the beginning, so the book is designed around the same rhythm Tilt paints in, rather than being a straight photo archive.
Behind it is a 38-year career across 72 countries, built on what Tilt calls the mastery of non-mastery — total control and total release at the same time. The book includes painting sessions with Seen, OsGemeos, Remio and other writers from across five decades, critical essays by David Pontille and Évelyne Toussaint, and a foreword by Henry Chalfant, co-author of Subway Art, who described the throwies as plump, jolly beings with real harmony between line and space.
It runs 440 pages, Swiss bound and bilingual in French and English, and grew out of 667 throw-ups Tilt painted in a single year. This is the standard open edition.
